Ariel Winter, who plays teenager Alex Dunphy on ABC's "Modern Family," has been removed from her home by a judge after allegations of abuse by her mother, TMZ.com reports.
Winter's mother, Chris Workman, denied the allegations, according to People.com. "It's all untrue, it's all untrue," Workman said, according to the story. TMZ names Winter?s mother as Crystal Workman.
The judge determined the charges were serious enough that he placed Winter in temporary guardianship with her older sister, Shanelle Workman, on Oct. 3, TMZ.com reports. Her mother was also ordered to stay 100 yards away from Winter.
According to court papers cited by People.com, Winter alleges her mother subjected her to "ongoing physical abuse (slapping, hitting, pushing) and emotional abuse (vile name-calling, personal insults about minor and minor's weight, attempts to 'sexualize' minor, deprivation of food, etc.) for an extended period of time."
The older daughter allegedly suffered the same abuse as Winter, the TMZ story says, adding that the Department of Children and Family Services removed Shanelle from her mother's home almost two decades ago, based on similar allegations. The older daughter was placed in foster care for more than two years and never returned to her mother, according to TMZ.
A court hearing is scheduled for Nov. 20.
